Carlos Correa Turned 'Page Pretty Easily' After Giants Deal Collapsed

May 23, 2023 8:06 AM

Carlos Correa reflected on his turbulent free agency with the San Francisco Giants in town to face the Minnesota Twins this week.

There was a period this past offseason that Correa had agreed to a 13-year deal with the Giants, but the agreement fell apart after an ankle issue was discovered during a physical.

Correa ended up re-signing with the Twins on a six-year guaranteed deal.

"I'm the type of guy that turns the page pretty easily," Correa said. "When that didn't get done, then we moved on from that. We go play this game like any other game and any other series, just try to win the series."

Asked Monday if he was surprised his ankle caused him to fail the physical, Correa said he was "very shocked."

Rangers Sign Tyler Zombro Two Years After Brain Surgery

May 22, 2023 6:57 AM

The Texas Rangers have signed Tyler Zombro to a minor-league contract.

Zombro is expected to report to the Triple-A Round Rock Express.

The right-hander suffered a fractured skull after being struck in the head with a line drive in summer 2021 and had to undergo emergency brain surgery.

Zombro made his triumphant return to the mound last April only to then require surgery to correct his thoracic outlet syndrome after making all of two appearances.

The Tampa Bay Rays subsequently released him.
